How the Lynton Weight Lose plan works
Your Assessment
All clients have an initial "one-to-one" consultation with one of our trained clinicians in our prestigious Cheadle clinic. At this stage all aspects of the diet will be discussed including your personal treatment plan. During the consultations we will determine the most appropriate starting phase of the weight loss plan, taking into consideration the weight you wish to lose, your general health and your lifestyle.
As part of the assessment you will be asked to complete a thorough health questionnaire and the clinician will carry out a physical assessment using state-of-the-art body analysis technology. This equipment (which is also used by the NHS) will accurately assess your body mass index (BMI) and your personal metabolic rate. Having finalised your personal plan and measured other parameters, such as body fat percentage and metabolic age, we will be able to scientifically monitor your progress over time as you head towards your goal.
Weekly Review
To ensure success we will schedule a weekly review with your clinician at which we will record your weight loss and review progress. At each of these reviews we will also:• Conduct a complete body composition analysis
• Prepare your weekly meals and meal plans
• Discuss any medical health issues
• Provide your specialist body shaping treatments
Body Shaping Treatments
As an essential part of the plan, body shaping treatments make use of the latest technology from the aesthetics industry to assist in the reduction of stubborn fat and cellulite in specific areas. It is the combination of weight loss and treatments which result in a fantastic body tone and shape.
Support & Evening Sessions
We understand how difficult keeping to a diet can be and so support, encouragement and advice are essential elements of your plan. You can contact the clinic at any time if you have any queries or want additional encouragement. Alternatively you can use our on-line chat forum or attend one of our many evening sessions which will include guest speakers on a variety of interesting and informative topics such as the psychology of weight loss, life-style, fitness and many others. The Science of weight loss
Weight loss and Traditional Low Calorie Diets
Simply put, losing weight is all about burning more calories than we consume. If we eat less and/or exercise more, the body will eventually start to draw upon its fat reserves and we will lose weight. In normal 'glcolytic metabolism' when the body requires energy, it first looks for sources of glucose in the blood stream and liver. Glucose is manufactured by the digestion of carbohydrates, which are found in all sugary and starchy foods, such as fruit, bread, potatoes and pasta. It is only once the body’s glucose supplies have been depleted that it will look for other sources of energy – namely, our fat and muscle reserves.
Traditional low-calorie diets, work in this way; our fat stores are one of the last sources of energy to be used, and our hard-earned muscle-mass is burnt away at roughly the same rate as the fat.

Low Carbohydrate Diets and Ketosis
If the body is deprived of glucose for about 48hrs, it starts to create energy in a different way. Fat is broken down directly into molecules called ketones which are used to create energy. This process is called Ketosis. In ketosis, fat, rather than glucose, is the primary source of energy and muscle is not targeted. Limiting our carbohydrate intake changes the body from a ‘carb-burning machine’ to a ‘fat-burning machine.’
Ketosis is the most effective way to burn fat quickly and efficiently and it helps weight loss in a number of ways:
• It decreases your appetite and increases feelings of satiety
• It uses more energy than traditional glycolytic metabolism,
so you burn more calories even whilst at rest
• It helps you lose weight from your fat mass, while
preserving your muscle mass
In phases 1 and 2 of the Lynton Weight Loss plan, carbohydrates are limited so that the body enters ketosis. It is essential to avoid ‘carbohydrate re-feeds’ at this time. Even a small portion of starchy or sugary food will stop the process of ketosis and slow the rate of weight loss. For this reason, it’s essential that only food from the permitted list (link to this here), which is low in carbohydrates, is eaten during these phases.
Are there any health risks?
No scientific studies have ever shown ketosis to be harmful, and the Lynton Weight Loss Plan ensures that you have all the nutrients your body requires and restricts the time spent on a ketogenic diet. Before starting the plan you will be asked a number of questions about your medical background and you will undergo a thorough physical assessment, so that your suitability for the diet can be evaluated by one of our trained clinicians.
The Four Phases of the
Lynton Weight Loss Plan
Depending on your starting BMI and initial assessment, you will be assigned a particular phase to start on. In all phases of the Lynton Weight Loss Plan, you must eat 4 times a day, every 3 to 4 hours and you may supplement your meals with selected vegetables & salads. All meals are enriched with protein to maintain muscle mass and help you feel fuller
for longer.
If your BMI is over 30, you will start the Lynton Weight Loss plan in Phase 1. Phase 1 is a low calorie, low carbohydrate (ketogenic) diet. All four of your meals are provided for you, and you can accompany them with selected vegetables and salads. This phase lasts for two weeks, and you should lose weight quickly in this stage.
Those with a BMI of 27+, can start the diet on Phase 2. Phase 2 is also a low calorie, ketogenic diet, but you replace one of the provided meals with your own protein-based meal, such as a fillet of fish and salad or a chicken breast and vegetables. This phase typically lasts for 4 weeks although this can be extended if required. However, we limit the time spent in Phases 1 and 2 (on a ketogenic diet) to no more than 12 weeks
In phase 3, you have 2 provided meals a day, and we begin the progressive reintroduction of carbohydrates. This phase is low-calorie, but you are no longer in ketosis. Gentle exercise should be commenced in this phase
Phase 4 is not a diet, but a way of life! There are no restricted foods, although many people continue to have one Lynton meal a day as a snack. The new habits formed during the previous phases will help lead you towards a healthy balanced lifestyle
Sometimes, we find that despite dieting, we have stubborn areas of fat that are difficult to shift. Typical areas include the stomach, love-handles, bottom and thighs. That is why the Lynton Weight Loss programme combines a balanced diet with body shaping treatments.
The body shaping treatments use the latest ultrasound technology to ‘melt’ the fat cell membranes and aid transport of fat out of the cells. This is combined with lymphatic drainage massage to stimulate blood and lymph circulation to help remove the free fat and improve the appearance of cellulite.
